It is surprising how many complexities have been caused by an apparently simple formula for the calculation of rents for social housing! Even more complications have been caused by the government's encouragement of unpooling service charges.

Local authorities all over England have used 'AWICS' to assist with rent restructuring and the unpooling of service charges. As part of this work we have developed an access database model for calculating rent restructuring and service charges using different assumptions.

Canterbury City Council were the most recent authority to request assistance with the implementation of rent restructuring.
