STOPPED: New Standards for Housing Associations and Local Authorities

From April 2010 the Tenant Services Authority will regulate both Housing Associations and Local Authority Housing and as part of this new regime is introducing new Standards for Social Housing. There will also be a whole set of new sanctions available to the Tenant Services Authority if Local Authorities or Housing Associations fail to meet these new Standards.

The Tenant Services Authority was established in December 2008 and has been given powers to regulate the whole Social Housing sector. From April 2010 its remit will be extended to cover Local Authorities and Arms Length Management Organisations.

We are therefore holding an important seminar to explain the Tenant Services Authority’s new Standards. The seminar will also give pointers towards what Housing Associations and Local Authorities need to do to respond to these changes.

This seminar will:

  • Recap the powers given to the Tenant Services Authority in the 2008 Housing and Regeneration Act
  • Set out the detail of the Tenant Services Authority’s new regulatory Standards and set out some pointers to how social housing organisations should be responding
  • Review the Tenant Services Authority’s enforcement powers
  • Consider the place of legislation and the role of the Audit Commission in the new regime

The course is accompanied by a very useful book entitled: “New Standards for Housing Associations and Local Authorities: New Regulations, New Sanctions”

Who should attend?

This seminar is designed for people working in housing in local authorities, arms length management organisations and housing associations. It is suitable for people at all levels, but particularly for:
